Donate to Mead’s Recovery
2024 has been an intense year for us. In April, Mead had to take 3 months off of work for medical treatment, then immediately after-Dylan’s appendix decided to make a dramatic exit. After Dylan’s surgery, Mead had to get emergency oral surgery. Within a month of that surgery, Dylan’s income took a hit and we lost our insurance. That was all before September.
3 weeks ago, Mead got hit by a car while riding a scooter. She’s recovering well from a concussion, MCL, PCL, and rotator cuff injuries. Thankfully it wasn’t any worse but unfortunately due to the accident, mead had had to cut back on work.
Through all of this we’ve been able to host outings, cultivation workshops, and travel to spread mycological education! We love what we do and we believe in free education so we do not receive income from the club.
We’re selling T-Shirts and Jewelry to help cover our personal bills. Money from these sales will not go towards club funding, it will help us through a financially stressful time. You can find items for sale on our website store at chicagomushrooms.org/store under the “Help! Mead got hit by a car!” tab.
We will be announcing open submissions for our 3rd zine edition next week. As always, funds raised from the zine will solely go towards funding free mycological programs for the community.
We’re also announcing a lot of exciting collaborations with various branches of @chicagopubliclibraries that should scratch your mycological itch during the slow winter season.
As always, we are so grateful for your support! This community means the world to us. As we lose more and more faith in our government systems, we need to lean into community support. Mycelial networks are strong because billions of hyphae work together for the common good. We should learn from them. Together, we can fight for the world we’d like to see. Join our discord to see what you can do for our community and see what we can do for you ❤️🍄
